How to Answer This Question

The age old question of When to Repair or Replace my HVAC equipment in Suffolk County or Smithtown

This question is more rationally answered by organizing the reasons and justification.

.Think about key factors being safety, age of equipment and the cost and frequency of repairs.

 1) Your heating equipment just went down and cannot be repaired.
This is perhaps the worst time to make this decision.  If you have a warm air furnace, you may have a cracked heat exchanger, and leaking carbon monoxide. This is a life or death issue. You have a boiler and the combustion chamber is no longer functional and the boiler burnt through. This is another life or death issue.

2)  The equipment is old. The efficiency of today's equipment is much greater. If you can save on utilities, now is a great time to think about replacement systems. The direct replacements available today are much more energy efficient. You save on utilities from day 1.  If you want to save even more there are boilers and furnaces that are in the high nineties for efficiency. A 95% system now wastes only 5% instead of your old system which many waste 20-30% or more waste.
To give this a frame of reference, If you heating equipment is over 15-20 years old, and in good working order, repair may still make sense. If you are doing repairs frequently, replacement offers peace of mind.If you equipment is 20 years or more, begin to think replacement .

3) If the equipment requires frequent repairs and you are spending more money every year,  the newer higher efficient equipment can pay for most or all of your investment.

4) Industry financing is offered by most reputable firms. We offer financing from 18 months 0%  interest to affordable lower monthly payments with longer terms.

We offer affordable service, calls and service contracts. We offer no charge quotes on system replacements. True Mechanical is 40 years in business and with over 100,000 installations on Long Island. Visit our website at www.truemech.com.  .

Wake up with more headaches in the winter ?

This season can mean a significant increase for people prone to headaches on Long Island . It is one of the most frequent complaints we hear. Cold weather can be a trigger for a number of reasons. Have you ever consumed a cold drink or eaten ice cream and then have a brain freeze. The jury is out exactly why this happens, but there are logical contributing factors.
On really cold days several circumstances come together to contribute to headaches. If you suffer from migraine, stress related or sinus headaches, pay close attention. Blood vessels in the brain constrict, which impacts a key nerve, which then causes the headache. .
Weather changes definitely contribute as well.  We usually hear weather forecasters talk about air pressure and those changes impact us as well. People with arthritis and post surgical patients can usually tell when precipitation is in the forecast without a weatherman.

The good news is there is something you can do to fight back. You don't have to bankroll Tylenol or Aleve. to get rid of stuffy sinuses or headaches. The simple answer is when humidity drops, add more humidity to your environment.  This can be as simple and inexpensive as putting a pot of water on your radiators, A more professional approach is a whole home humidity solution by True. Whole home humidity systems give you the right amount of moisture in the air to relieve the pressure in your head. Imagine sleeping soundly and breathing easy. There are many options, up to and including a free standing steam system, which works with any heating system.
Here is a great video to explain the benefits of additional humidity

Ductless Heat Pumps and Erroneous Thinking In Suffolk County

From Mitsubishi manufacturer website information:

They Don’t Work In Cold Climates ( down to -13F)

Mitsubishi is manufacturing an innovative heat pump that works below 0 degrees F. Their name for this system is Hyper-Heat  . These systems deliver 100 percent heating capacity at 5° F outside temperature.Offering higher efficiency ratings than boiler-based systems, ductless heat pumps cost less to operate by maximizing the amount of heat generated from the energy consumed.
ABOUT DUCTLESS HEAT PUMPS
Like any technology, ductless heat pumps need to be used properly and under the right conditions.them. And like anything in the internet age, ductless heat pumps are subject to all kinds of misinformation and misconceptions that can mislead consumers. Here are four of the biggest misconceptions being spread about ductless heat pumps.

They Are More Expensive To Run Than Oil Or Gas Heaters

This is demonstrably false. The cost saving associated with split-ductless heat pumps is dependent upon a number of factors, including the efficiency, condition and location of the original equipment, energy type and climatic region. Yet study after study shows that the use of electric heat pumps will save you between $1,000 and $2,000 annually in energy costs.

They Collect And Distribute Bacteria

Most split-ductless heat pumps are equipped with filter systems and self-cleaning functions, so that bacteria and spores don’t have an opportunity to settle. Incoming air is purified in several steps. Large plastic filters which cover the heat exchanger, as well as electric filter collectors, can both be washed with soapy water. An internal fan insures that the heat exchanger dries completely, eliminating any chance of bacterial growth.

They Are Only Suitable For New Construction and Not Existing Properties

Like any heating system, ductless heat pumps are more efficient in well-insulated new build houses, where they are often combined with other heating systems such as underfloor in order to make full use of all available space. But they are also a perfectly good option for existing housing stock, and an especially good option when the homeowner wants to add air conditioning as well as upgrade their heating system.

They Don’t Have A Long Life Cycle Because They Operate Twelve Months A Year

This is simply wrong. Dirt, improper application and service, plus lack of preventative maintenance are the main reasons for heat pump failure. You operate your vehicle for twelve months a year, too, but you don’t expect a top quality model to break down for that reason alone.

Cold Weather and our Immune Systems

Thinking about your home's indoor air quality in Bohemia.  In the winter months humidity levels are key to your health and comfort. Colds, flu, and dry sinuses are all symptoms of too little humidity. Our immune systems with humidifiers in Smithtown and Long Island function best with the right levels of humidity. We should not wait for what the weather forecast tells us will happen. Weather physically and emotionally can affect our well being.  If you have Arthritis and you hear of rain and /or precipitation  the forecast, you already know about this. What you also need to know is humidity has a similar effect inside our homes, from flooring to kitchen cabinets to crown moldings, to wood doors. The Good News; You can control the level of humidity in your surrounding environment.
Proper humidity is definitely a balancing act. Too much humidity and you can see windows condensate. Too little humidity, throats are scratchy, sinuses are dry and wood can and will begin to crack. All this is not good. However, with a professionally installed system, you can keep the humidity at proper levels. When there is too much humidity in your home, the air can get clammy, feeling warmer than the real temperature. This is when mildew, bacteria, and other airborne allergens and viruses can multiply quickly in Dix Hills.
What are proper moisture levels with humidifiers in Huntington? Though these vary with changes to outdoor temperatures, humidity levels should be at a minimum between 35% and 50% relative humidity for comfort.  More imprtantly, for your immune system health, and an environment resistant to allergens and maintaining the health of your  custom wood work home in King Park in the winter, humidity levels between 45% and 50% are required to be optimum. To help, a centrally installed humidification system can be installed. Even if you do not have ducts in your home, a steam humidifier system can be installed. You don't want water in your attic ducts, with freezing temperatures.  Having a a professional humidification system installed can make your life a whole lot better.  Why suffer, when a system can be installed in 1 day or less.
If your home is too humid normally, (basements are a prime culprit) we can install a whole home
dehumidifier bringing the humidity down to healthier and more comfortable levels.

These professionally installed systems are simpler to use and much lower maintenance than home improvement store purchased single room products.

Whatever the weather, humidity is always in your home. Indoor air quality is a major concern for our Long Island customers and humidity is a critical component of indoor air quality.

Estimates of course are free and the benefits are immediate and very real. Donald Trump and the Tonight's Show Jimmy Fallon would say they are huge. Let us give you a free diagnosis. Contact Brian Nagle at True Mechanical Corp. (office)  631-653-1298,
