A customer called looking for a quote on replacing their boiler. This particular boiler is a very high efficiency gas fired condensing boiler, and is only 8 years old. The story unfolded after being in the house for 15 minutes. This particular boiler requires the skill set of a highly skilled technician to diagnose and work on. The home is 5000 sq ft, hydronic heating with 7 zones and thermostats. My conversation with the homeowner uncovered several issues. It turns out the home had been without heat for more than 2 weeks. The homeowner had 4 different companies come in to service the equipment, without having a service contract, and without an effective result. The one thing the homeowner did correctly, was to call the boiler manufacturer, to find a company, such as True Mechanical, approved and qualified by the manufacturer to properly service their boilers. The moral of the story, is when you make the largest expenditure of your life in your home, or homes, buy some insurance ( a service contract) on the mechanical systems for your home.
